I'm excited to be a part of a wonderful consortium of Asian American artists in Humboldt for a show at the Morris Graves Museum of Art in Eureka, CA. Opening reception is 6-9 p.m., May 3rd coinciding with a street fair for the Humboldt Asian Pacific Islander in Solidarity group. There will be Taiko drummers, Lao dancers and food trucks! Yay! Our group for the show ranges in age from the 30's to the 90's - digital artists, ceramicists, found art artists, printmakers, multi-media artists and my Chinese brush paintings. In addition, I'll be reading poetry along with other Asian American poets at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4th also at Morris Graves. And if you thought that was all, just wait... An original choral opera about the Eureka Chinatown expulsion will be performed at 1 p.m. before the poetry reading! I am so gratified that we will be using our own voices to tell our true stories here in Humboldt, the place where we live. Please come, dance, sing, play, appreciate, and I hope, be moved!
